Lois says of the inspiration for her latest album, Hymn to Freedom,
"I’ve always loved Oscar Peterson’s music, partly because of that sound he had, which combined a gospel feel — that heavy, rhythmic, swing kind of sound — and partly because he had that virtuosity that not a lot of players have. I thought … I’d love to pay tribute to Oscar Peterson."
